7th Annual Arizona Extreme Heat Workshop (virtual)

When

10 a.m. – Noon, April 24, 2023

You and your colleagues are invited to attend the 7th Annual Arizona Extreme Heat Planning Workshop facilitated by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, and the NOAA National Weather Service. Prior workshops engaged members in the heat preparedness/response community representing academia, businesses, elected officials, emergency management, government, media, non-profit, tribes, public safety, and meteorology. In hopes of easily engaging partners from across the state, we will continue with the virtual format for 2023. Attendees will get to hear from a diverse set of speakers on a variety of initiatives responding to extreme heat.

Goals for the workshop:

  • Highlight connections and progress within the community of those responding to extreme heat
  • Explore historical and the most recent projected temperature trends for Arizona
  • Examine current trends in heat illness and deaths
  • Provide a debrief of the recent NOAA Tabletop Exercise
  • Improve coordinated messaging from the Arizona heat-health community

Agenda for the event will be sent out at a later time, so stay tuned for more details. We look forward to having you at the event!
